Information about cookies
In accordance with Law 34/2002 of 11 July on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI), in relation to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Organic Law 3/2018 of 5 December on Personal Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD), it is mandatory to obtain the user’s express consent for all websites that use non-essential cookies before the user browses them.
What are cookies?
Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels are tools used by Web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the proper functioning of the site.
Through the use of these devices, the Web server is allowed to remember certain data concerning the user, such as preferences for viewing the pages of that server, username and password, products of greatest interest, etc.
Cookies affected by regulations and exempt cookies
According to EU regulations, cookies that require informed user consent are analytical, advertising and affiliate cookies, while technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user are exempt.
Types of cookies
According to their purpose
Technical and functional cookies: these allow the user to browse through a website, platform or application and use the different options or services available on it.
Analytical cookies: these allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through these cookies is used to measure website, application or platform activity and to create user browsing profiles for the purpose of introducing improvements based on the analysis of usage data.
Advertising cookies: these allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of advertising spaces that the publisher may have included on a website, application or platform from which the requested service is provided based on criteria such as the edited content or the frequency with which advertisements are shown.
Behavioural advertising cookies: these collect information about the user’s preferences and personal choices (retargeting) to allow the most efficient management possible of advertising spaces that the publisher may have included on a website, application or platform from which the requested service is provided.
Social cookies: these are set by social media platforms on the services to allow users to share content with their friends and networks. Social media platforms have the ability to track online activity outside the Services. This may affect the content and messages displayed on other services visited.
Affiliate cookies: these allow tracking of visits coming from other websites with which the website establishes an affiliate agreement (affiliate companies).
Security cookies: these store encrypted information to prevent the data stored in them from being vulnerable to malicious attacks by third parties.
According to ownership
First-party cookies: these are sent to the user’s terminal device from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the requested service is provided.
Third-party cookies: these are sent to the user’s terminal device from a device or domain not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.
According to storage duration
Session cookies: these are a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website.
Persistent cookies: these are a type of cookie in which the data remain stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie controller, ranging from a few minutes to several years.
